Welcome to Liquifolio!

Most investors know roughly how their portfolio is doing. They check the balance, notice it went up or down, and move on. But ask them why it went up, how much came from market movement, how much from dividends, how much from the money they added, and the honest answer is usually a guess.

That gap bothered us. Not because the numbers are hard to calculate, but because no tool we tried seemed to care about connecting them properly.

The most capable portfolio trackers we found were desktop-only. Powerful, but tied to a single machine with your data trapped where you left it. The web-based alternatives traded that power for convenience, and somewhere in that trade, accuracy got lost too. Performance numbers that don't quite add up. Charts that look impressive until you try to read them. Comparisons between assets that are confidently, silently wrong. Easy to maintain, hard to trust.

We wanted both. A tool that lives on the web and works wherever you are, but doesn't use convenience as an excuse to cut corners on correctness. One that starts from your actual transactions and builds every number from there, so performance isn't an approximation but a calculation you could verify yourself if you wanted to.

Liquifolio is that tool. It's built for investors who have outgrown a broker balance and want to know not just where their portfolio stands, but why it stands there.

This is the first post on a blog where we'll share updates, thinking and occasional deep dives into portfolio mechanics. We're glad you're here.
